DIGITAL TELEVISION

Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is the application of the technologies of digital media content to the transmission through a conventional antenna (aerial). Applying digital technology is getting more likely, as providing a greater number of channels, better quality image or picture in high definition (HD or High Definition in English) and better sound quality (using systems such as AC3). The technology used is ATSC in North America, ISDB-T in Japan, and DVB-T in Europe, Australia, Africa and some South American countries. The rest of the world has not yet been decided. ISDB-T is very similar to DVB-T.

DTT allows an improvement in reception quality and extend the available supply in number of channels and versatility of the system: issue with multichannel sound, multiple audio, teletext, EPG (Electronic Program Guide ), radio channels, interactive services, panorama, etc. In the medium term, the analog television system will disappear completely freeing frequencies will increase the number of channels, quality and other services on DTT. The DAB digital radio system also began broadcasting in 1998 but appears in practice to be unworkable and / or unprofitable, its reception in the absence of many receivers on the market.
