The video shows how you can block a N97 was tested in 5800 and can be done (do not know if this option was always loved now or firmware update 50.0.005).
Once locked you can not do anything else, you can not turn off, or connect to the PC, or nothing. And if you remove the battery and turn it again remains locked. A good choice (and efficient) without installing additional applications
To enable this feature in 5800 must do the following: Go to Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> App. mobile -> Security -> Phone and SIM card -> and "Block remote telephone" changed to "On"

We ask for the code that must be sent by SMS to lock the phone, then we enter it a second time to verify and finally we put the mobile code (if we have not changed is 12345) and is already the option list.

Now we should only send an SMS to your mobile with the word that we have and the phone is locked. To enter the unlock code we've entered (in this case is 12345).
Note:
to change the lock code (default is 12345), in the same menu, we select the option "Lock code", we asked the current code, then we enter the new code.
